I am District 99. I am a single mother. I am a newly unemployed, educated Black woman. I didn’t lose my job because I stopped working hard. I lost it because of federal budget cuts that treat people like line items. I am now part of a national trend where the unemployment rate for Black women has climbed to 7.1%  this winter; nearly double the rate of the general population.
