ABOUT VELERIA
Meet Veleria Levy

EXPERIENCED LEADERSHIP ROOTED IN A CIRCLE OF SERVICE
Veleria M. Levy is a leader shaped by service, accountability, and the unwavering belief that communities thrive when every person is seen, valued, and protected. Her campaign for NC House District 99 is grounded in a Circle of Service, showing up, listening deeply, delivering with integrity, and welcoming constituents to “Check Levy” whenever she needs to hear hard truths or recalibrate her approach. For Veleria, public office is not a platform. It is a partnership.
With more than two decades of experience in public health, equity strategy, and statewide policy advocacy across North and South Carolina, Veleria has dedicated her career to building systems where fairness is the standard and inclusion is nonnegotiable. She is known for strengthening community health networks, pushing back against harmful legislation, expanding access to care, and helping organizations better reflect and serve the communities they represent.
As the former Executive Director of the North Carolina AIDS Action Network, Veleria led advocacy efforts during a period of unprecedented attacks on healthcare access and civil rights. She ensured that community voices were centered in statewide decision making and stepped in directly to support families navigating health, safety, and access challenges when traditional systems fell short.
Today, as President and CEO of HerHealth Consulting, LLC, Veleria continues this work by designing equity centered programs, strengthening safety net systems, and expanding healthcare access across the region. Her expertise includes the 340B drug pricing program, where she helped secure contracts that generated millions in revenue for community health providers, protecting critical services while supporting long term community stability.
Veleria’s commitment to reproductive and preventive health is both professional and deeply personal. When her sister was unemployed and living in Texas, she sought care at Planned Parenthood, where providers detected her cervical cancer early. That screening saved her life. The experience reinforced what Veleria has seen throughout her career, delayed diagnoses and barriers to care cost lives, and closing those gaps especially for Black women is urgent and essential.
She also understands the vital role safety net providers play for both women and men, often serving as the first or only source of care for people who are uninsured or underinsured. These providers deliver cancer screenings, primary and preventive care, and health education that keep families healthy and communities strong.
Veleria’s life reflects resilience, faith, and service. As a parent advocating for a child living with epilepsy, she understands urgency and the realities of navigating broken systems. As the daughter of a Veteran, she has helped her family navigate the VA healthcare system and witnessed how too many Veterans are left without the care and support they deserve after returning home. That experience drives her commitment to ensuring Veterans receive dignified, comprehensive care long after active service.
Leadership is a circle we build together. And Veleria will continue to serve.
When voters in this district say "Check Levy," they'll know the box they checked leads to action, not absentee leadership.
